Research Agency as the Programme Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs Programme launched the Call for Bilateral Initiatives BIN BF04 under the Fund for Bilateral Relations. The Call is funded by the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms.

The aim of the Call for Proposals for Bilateral Initiatives under the Fund for Bilateral Relations within the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs programme is to set-up a flexible and easy tool to develop and strengthen business partnerships between the entities from Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway (Donor states) and Slovakia. The programme focus areas:

  • Green Industry Innovation and
  • Welfare Technology and Ambient Assisted Living technologies

Eligible applicants and partners are any public, private entities, commercial or non-commercial, as well as NGOs established as legal persons in Slovakia and the Donor states. Each Slovak applicant shall have at least one partner from the Donor states and vice versa.

Grant amount to be applied for is € 1,000 – € 10,000. The total allocation for the Call is € 70 000. No co-financing is required by the applicant under this Call.

Grant Applications shall be written in English and submitted via electronic system egrant and will be evaluated in the order they are received (FIFO principle).

Grant Application submission deadline is 30 June 2024.

The implementation of the initiative should not last more than 6 months and should be finished by 31 December 2024.

Research Agency, as the Program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs Programme, issued Decisions on the award of grants for the project applications within the Call for Proposals for International mobility between higher education institutions, upper-secondary schools and enterprises in Slovakia and the Donor states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) (BIN SGS03), financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism and state budget of the Slovak Republic, on 17 October 2022. There were 3 project applications received in the total required amount of 578 737,20 €. All of them were granted in the total amount of 555 145,45 €.The projects are expected to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Slovakia and the Donor states using international mobility. The approved projects will be implemented in partnership with a project partners from the Donor states.

Results of the Call BIN 02

Research Agency as the Program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs Programme issued Decisions on the award of grants for the project applications on 1 April 2022 within the Call for Proposals on the Support of Innovation and Business Development (BIN 02), funded by the EEA Grants and the state budget of the Slovak Republic. There were 34 project applications received, 6 of them were granted in the total amount of 3 414 862,21 €. The amount of 5 415 882 € is allocated for this Call.

Research Agency as a Program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs Programme issued a Decisions on the award of grants for the project applications on 22 December 2021 within the Call for Proposals on the Support of Innovation and Business Development (BIN 01), financed from the Norway Grants and state budget of the Slovak republic. There were received 25 project applications in the total required amount of 20 364 783,85 €. 13 of them were granted in total amount of 9 463 703,99 €.

Research Agency as a Program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs programme has launched the Call for Proposals on the Support of Innovation and Business Development (call code: BIN01)financed by the Norway Grants and state budget of the Slovak Republic. The call aims to support small, medium and large enterprises within two main programme areas: Green Industry Innovation and Welfare Technology and Ambient Assisted Living. Funding will be provided for the projects that contribute to the development and establishment of innovative technologies, processes and products, and bring significant benefits, such as employment growth, reduction of CO2 emissions and waste production, use of new materials, intelligent construction solutions etc. In the area of welfare technologies establishment of products and services that help elderly and people with disabilities, systems for vital functions monitoring and technologies for medical care suitable for households, intelligent textiles and houses, can be supported etc.

Within the Call it is possible to apply for a grant from 200,000 € up to 2 000,000 €. 

The amount of 11 578 235 € is allocated for this Call.

Editorial correction No.1 

On June 29, 2021, the European Commission registered the State Aid Scheme for supporting business development and innovation as amended by Addendum No. 1 and registers it under the number SA.63743. Based on the regulation of the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic, it is necessary to use the registration number assigned by the Commission. Given that the notification of the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic was announced after the publication of the Call BIN 01, the Program Operator proceeds to the editorial correction No. 1 of this technical error of the Call BIN 01 and all its annexes and related documents, where the original texts State Aid Scheme SA.61867 changes to State Aid Scheme as amended by Addendum No. 1 SA.63743 and State Aid Scheme for supporting business development and innovation, as amended by Addendum No. 1 SA.61867 changes to State Aid Scheme for supporting business development and innovation as amended by Addendum No. 1 SA.63743.

Modification of the Call BIN 01 conditions - correction No.3

The Program Operator changed the conditions of the Call BIN 01 by modifying the selection criteria (Annex No. 2_Selection Criteria BIN 01) in order to enable more effective selection process in assessing the eligibility of the applicant and its partners.

Research Agency, as the Program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs Programme, issued Decision on the award of grants for the project applications within the Call for Proposals for Institutional Cooperation between Higher Education Institutions, Upper-Secondary Schools and Private Sector (BIN SGS02), financed by the Norway Grants and state budget of the Slovak Republic, on 1 July 2022. Projects at upper-secondary level can target Vocational education and training (VET) development and/or bridging the gap between the education system and labor market needs. Projects at higher education level can focus on building more intensive cooperation between SMEs/enterprises and educational institutions and support to career development of researchers.

Projects are expected to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Slovakia and Norway on an institutional level.

Grant amount: from 10,000 € up to 200,000 €

Research Agency as a program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs programme has launched the Call for Travel Grants (BIN BF01) under Fund for Bilateral Relations of the EEA grants and Norway Grants. The aim of the Call is to support short-term activities in a partner country with a clear bilateral profile focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Slovakia and Donor States which are Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Activities should be directly related to the aims and outcomes of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs programme. Within the Call for Travel Grants it is possible to apply for subsistence allowances and travel costs for implementation of bilateral initiative with a maximum grant of up to € 3,000. The amount of € 30,000 is allocated for the Call.

Date of launching the call: 3.3.2020. Deadline for submission of Travel Grants applications: 31 December 2020, or until the available allocation for the Travel Grants is used.

Research Agency as a program Operator of the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs programme has launched the Call For Proposals - Small Grant Scheme Support newly established businesses (start-ups) BIN SGS01, financed from the Norway Grants and state budget of the Slovak republic. 

The call aims to support start-ups aiming at development, application and commercialization of innovative technologies, processes, solutions within two main focus areas: Green Industry Innovation (GII) and Welfare Technology and Ambient Assisted Living Technologies (WT/AAL). These areas represent a big potential of identified needs which can be fulfilled thanks to new approaches and, often, by non-traditional realization of ideas in practice. Start-ups have an opportunity to ask for funding of projects focused on development, application and commercialization of best proposed processes, technologies, solutions, products and services, or greening of their business.

Within the Call it is possible to apply for grant from 100,000 € up to 200,000 €. The amount of 1 058 824 € is allocated for the Call.
